Super Talent unveils low-profile eco-friendly DDR3 memory

Memory manufacturer Super Talent Technology has developed a new line of green (literally and figuratively) DDR3 modules that use 38% less PCB material and 47% less packaging material than the company’s standard DDR3 DIMMs called VLP (very low profile) DDR3.

VLP compared with standard module
The new memory modules occupy 57% less space, which should work well on compact, energy-efficient small form factor PCs as well as standard DDR3-based x86 motherboards.
Super Talent’s VLP DDR3 memory will be available in 1GB and 2GB modules, with 1066 and 1333MHz bus speeds. They will begin shipping in September.
