Apricorn launches keypad embedded Aegis Padlock Secure portable drive Aegis padlock

It doesn’t get any more easy than this. Instead of adding software-based encryption methods that most people tend not to use anyway, Apricorn built a keypad onto their Aegis Padlock Secure portable drive that’ll let you punch in your PIN for easy access.

The Padlock Secure drive offers a choice between models secured with 128 or 256-bit AES encryption, both of which require no software installation. A preloaded Administrator feature handles up to ten users and one administrator account that’ll let you pass it around for collaboration (and for the rare occasion that a co-worker asks to borrow your drive to transfer files for a few minutes.)

It’s pretty much the size of a regular portable drive, and is also built with shock protection to handle bumps and drops. Built for mobile use, the drive is powered via the USB bus; a USB cable snaps to the side for convenience.

Available now through Apricorn’s online store, the drive is available in 250GB, 320GB, and 500GB. Drives with 128-bit AES encryption sells for $100, $110, and $140, respectively, while the 256-bit AES models cost $20 more for the same capacities. The package includes a Y-auxiliary power cable, travel pouch, and a quick start guide along with the drive.
