Networking hardware company Trendnet has just announced the availability of the “world’s smallest 300Mbps Wireless N travel router kit,” the TEW-654TR. Measuring just 2.5 inches wide and 3.25 inches long, the compact router comes with a travel pack that’s complete with everything you need to get a wireless network up and running on the road.
All the basics of the average wireless router are covered, including the usual AP and client modes, wireless encryption, as well as a Multiple In Multiple Out (MIMO) antenna for better connectivity and coverage within 50 meters indoors or up to 200 meters outdoors. The router itself sports a reset button, a WAN port for connecting to the net, and a flexible power source that can either plug into a wall socket or through a laptop’s USB port. Unlike the average router, it drops the usual four RJ45 wired LAN ports to save on space, letting users connect through Wi-fi exclusively.

The TEW-654TR is available now in the US for around $75 with a package that includes a carrying case, a slim 3-foot Ethernet cable, AC power adapter, and an alternate USB-power cable for powering the router via USB.
