Microsoft has come out with the first consumer webcam to support 720p video recording at 30 frames per second—that’s true HD at 1280 x 720 resolutions. Labeled as the LifeCam Cinema, the new webcam has a glass lens, autofocus, 4x digital zoom, and a noise-canceling microphone on top.
The LifeCam Cinema is listed to be made of aluminum to keep it light, and features a clip/stand for working with laptops and desktops via USB 2.0. A Windows Live call button on top enables it to work with Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Movie Maker, or Windows Live Photo Gallery. It will be compatible with Windows 7, as well as Vista and XP.
The LifeCam Cinema is expected to be released on September 9th for around $80.
