After upping the full details for their two new DualView cams, Samsung also announced the CL65, a 12-megapixel ultracompact that sports a number of wireless connectivity options that include Wi-fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
The extensive connectivity list all ties into this cam’s instant-sharing theme, letting users instantly upload or transfer captured photos and videos via email, photo/video sites, social networking sites or simply to transfer them to another device (like a mobile phone or laptop) via Bluetooth. Being DLNA compliant, the CL65 should be compatible with most other wireless devices. The built-in GPS receiver supports Geotagging that marks the photo with location data of where the photo was taken.

The cam itself is designed well enough for a slim ultracompact, with a 12.2-megapixel sensor, Schneider-Kreuznach optics, and a 5x optical zoom lens that can also shoot HD 720p videos. The rear side is filled by a large 3.5-inch, 1MP resolution touchscreen LCD that supports gestures and haptic feedback; all the usual controls are shown via an on-screen interface. According to the release, the CL65 can also be tilted to move through photos or change shooting modes, so an accelerometer is also likely.
Being a point-and-shoot cam, the CL65 is naturally loaded with tech that’s designed to take care of the settings: Smart Auto automatically detects and selects the appropriate scene settings, a Perfect Portrait System comes with smile and blink detection and red-eye correction, face recognition optimizes people shots, “Beauty Shot” edits skin imperfections from faces, and a touch-based AF lets you pick a point on the display to focus on. Dual image stabilization takes care of the blurs.
The CL65 is due out in September for $399.
