Lenovo has just released the IdeaCentre Q700 desktop PC, a compact home entertainment PC that’s built to play movies and music, and designed with a small footprint to go with the rest of the living room decor.
About the size of a compact DVD player, the Q700 is available in two configurations, with both setups powered by an Intel 2.5GHz dual core processor and onboard X4500 graphics, 4GBs of DDR3 memory, and a DVD burner. Built to keep silent with energy efficient parts that don’t need loud fans to keep cool, the Q700 also offers a number of options for connecting (HDMI, VGA, S-Video, CATV, multi-channel audio, S/PDIF) to just about anything. A number of ports for connecting portable storage devices are also available at the front, with a door that opens to reveal card readers and USB ports.

Both configurations also come preloaded with a Windows Vista Home Premium 64 operating system, but they come with different-sized hard drives: the standard $499 kit sports a 320GB hard drive and no network connection, while the upscaled model sports double the hard drive space with 640GBs and a network connection.
