The buzz about Microsoft’s upcoming PMP has been out there for a couple of months now, but official info for the upcoming Zune HD has finally been released. The release confirms a leak that was released last week that pegs the new Zune HD’s release on September 15th. The leak also got the pricing spot on, with the 16GB version (which will be available in black) priced at $220 and the platinum-colored 32GB model at $290.
The Zune HD is a full-featured portable media player equipped with a 3.3-inch multi-touch OLED that can play stored 720p HD videos that it can either downsize to fit the 480 x 272 resolution screen or port out to an HDTV through an optional $90 Zune HD AV Dock via HDMI. The Zune HD also supports HD Radio, and comes with Wi-fi for net connectivity. Internet browsing is done through a pre-installed copy of Internet Explorer 6 Mobile that supports multi-touch gestures.
Both 16GB and 32GB models are up for preorder at Amazon now, along with the AV Dock and a $50 Sync Dock that includes a wireless remote.
