Microsoft and Nokia teams up for Symbian based Office MSoffice nokia

Microsoft and Nokia has announced that they’ll be developing a range off business software that’ll work on mobiles running on Symbian mobile operating systems, starting with the integration of Microsoft’s Office Mobile ontoS60-based smartphones.

Aside from bringing the Office Mobile suite–which includes mobile versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote—to the Symbian platform, other tools will also be developed for data syncs and communication, starting with Exchange ActiveSync and Office Communicator Mobile. Further plans include porting SharePoint Server and System Center software.

No release dates have been announced (it looks like it’ll arrive sometime next year), but the partnership is seen as a way to compete better with the rising number of BlackBerrys and iPhones flooding (and dominating) the market.
