Logitech R800

This may not be that much of a big deal to the average Joe, but to those road warriors and cubicle slaves whose financial and professional fates hinge on the results of a PowerPoint presentation, we have two things we want to say to you: first, good luck. Second, Logitech just released a pair of devices just for you. No, they won’t really spice up a boring presentation or help you make that sale (unless you’re selling wireless PowerPoint presenters, in which case, these babies sell themselves), but they’re designed to make your job easier.

Both devices basically do the same thing: they’re wireless remotes for skipping through a slideshow without having to worry about your partner’s miscues. The Professional Presenter R800 is the more advanced of the two, with a 100-foot range for working large rooms like auditoriums or lecture halls and a green laser (as opposed to the common red beam) that works better in bright rooms and lighted surfaces. The R800 also sports a nifty LCD display that helps you keep track of the time. The timer also works with a built-in vibrating alert that can be set to subtly remind you when to start wrapping things up.

Logitech R400

The Wireless Presenter R400 is a more basic presenter that drops the LCD display and the green beam, offering you something that still looks and feels good in your hand, but at half the R800’s price.

The R800 costs $99.99, while the basic R400 is priced at $49.99. Both are scheduled to ship in September.

I suggest also considering Atek's $50 Stagehand. It's got user-configurable buttons (which are also big and easy to operate), a white flashlight to check equipment and notes, and also you can control one computer with multiple remotes or multiple computers with one remote!

Good point Wes, for Atek's sub-$50 price tag, coupled with the PC remote functions does make the Stagehand pretty handy… The Logitech R800 does take the cake on presentation functions, though (and on design).

For anyone who does want to check out the aforementioned Stagehand by Atek, you can check it out here.

What presentation functions? I don't see much information on Logitech's website about presentation functions of the R400 or R800. Atek's does black screen, white screen, alt-tab, and has powerful group presentation functions, as I mentioned.
