Bell to start shipping Palm Pre on August 27 Palm Pre

Canada’s Bell is now the country’s exclusive distributor (at least until the rights expire in 2010) and only the second carrier in the world (after Sprint in the US) to offer Palm’s much-awaited smartphone. Scheduled to be available to their subscribers starting August 27th, the Palm Pre will sell for $200 with a 3-year contract that includes a 500MB per month data plan.

The Palm Pre is a smartphone built with a 3-inch multi-touch screen that runs on Palm’s new webOS platform. Sporting a wide range of smart features in a compact slider form factor, the mobile is loaded with 3G, Bluetooth, and Wi-fi connectivity, a built-in GPS receiver, a 3-megapixel cam, and 8GBs of internal storage, all tied in by an improved interface. Bell’s version of the Pre will still feature the highlights touted by Palm when it was first unveiled during the CES show earlier this year, including instant access to Web-based services such as Google, Google Maps, Wikipedia, Facebook and Twitter.Bell to start shipping Palm Pre on August 27 Palm Pre b
