LG has recently unveiled two new HDTVs sporting new seamless designs during the company’s annual Summer Line event. The new kits–an LCD (SL80 series) and an LED-backlit (SL90 series, shown above) HDTV—will both feature a new design that involves a single edge-to-edge panel of glass covering a slim bezel.
The SL80 series (shown below) features slim CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp) backlighting and is built with a panel with TruMotion 240Hz tech for fast response times. It’s also listed to feature a 150,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, and a frame that’s 1.8-inches thick. The SL90 series comes equipped with a LED-backlit display for power efficiency and a higher 3,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, plus a 120Hz refresh rate and a slimmer 1.15-inch frame.

Both models will include LG’s core imaging tech, including an Intelligent Sensor that adjusts the screen’s backlighting for power efficiency, multiple modes that optimize picture settings for Movie, Game, or Sports content, a Picture Wizard that does automated calibration, and Clear Voice II technology that amplifies speech.
Set to ship this month, the SL80 will be available in 42 inches ($1,700), 47 inches ($2,000), and 55 inches (MSRP: $2,799.95). Pricing and shipping dates for the SL90 haven’t been revealed yet.
