Kodak has just unveiled a number of new products, starting with a new pocket-sized HD camcorder that can record videos in full HD 1080p quality. Tagged as the Zi8 pocket video camera, the compact 12.5mm-thick device packs a 5MP CMOS sensor with a f/2.8 fixed focus lens for snapping 5.3MP widescreen (16:9) JPEG stills or recording high-definition videos in H.264 MOV files.
The Zi8 doesn’t come with an optical zoom, but offers 4x digital for going up close, and a 2.5-inch display for viewing. Video recording can be done at a full 1080p resolution at 30fps, or a lower 720p resolution at a smoother 60fps, while Sound can be recorded through the built-in mic or by attaching an external microphone for stereo sound. For in-cam tech, the Zi8 includes built-in image stabilization (most likely digital I.S.), and face tracking tech for optimized people-shots.

The compact kit is powered by a Li-Ion battery pack that can be recharged by plugging in the AC adapter. It also comes with a pull-out USB interface for connecting to a PC, plus AV and HDMI ports for viewing recorded media on an HDTV.
The Zi8 pocket digital camcorder costs $180, and is available in three colors: black, aqua, and raspberry.
