Kodak has also unveiled two new 12MP cams under their EasyShare line: the Z950 ultrazoom (shown above), and two new compact cams, the M381 and M341.
The newest Z-series cam features a 12-megapixel sensor and a 10X Schneider-Kreuznach Variogon optical zoom lens with optical image stabilization, positioned right between the existing Z980 (12MP, 24x zoom) and the Z915 (10MP, 10x zoom) along the Z-series line. It also comes with Kodak’s Smart Capture feature that automatically identifies the scene and adjusts the settings (exposure, focus, and sensitivity) for an optimized image. Face detection is also included, as well as a mode that allows for in-cam photo editing and cropping, as well as automated stitching that lets users combine up to three shots for a wide panoramic image.

The Z950 comes with multiple modes that include Shutter and Aperture priority, as well as a full manual mode that gives the user full control. Shutter speed goes up to 1/1250 sec, Aperture range is f/3.5-4.8, and sensitivity goes up to ISO 1600 (or 3200 on a 3.1MP setting) for shooting in low light. HD images can also be taken in widescreen 16:9 format for viewing on an HDTV. The Z950 also has a large 3-inch full color LCD and stores images on an SDHC card (up to 32MB supported).

The M381 is a compact cam that offers 12MP stills and a 5x optical zoom. It features a 3-inch LCD, Kodak’s Smart Capture tech, and a Blur reduction feature in lieu of image stabilization. It’s a pretty simple point-and-shoot, with built-in features designed for easy shooting. In-cam tech includes face detection, multiple scene modes, and in-cam editing that includes cropping and auto stitching.

Kodak is also set to release the M341, which is basically a liter (cheaper) version of the M381. It also packs a 12MP sensor, but replaces the M381’s 5x optical zoom with a 3x lens, and comes in 5 different colors (red, white, orchid, black and blue).
The Z950 is available now for $279.95, while the M381 ($189.95) and M341 ($159.95) is due out by September.
