WD comes up with first 1TB 2.5 inch mobile HDD wdscorpioblue1tb

After packing 2 Terabytes into a desktop hard drive a few months ago, Western Digital raises the bar for mobile storage by offering the industry’s first 1TB 2.5-inch drive. The new 1TB and 750GB models fall under their WD Scorpio Blue line of 2.5-inch drives that offer performance and power efficiency for notebooks, small form factor PCs, and portable devices.

With 2.5-inch hard drives previously limited to 500GB (limiting even the most expensive gaming/performance and desktop replacements to a total of 1.5TBs with three drive bays), WD’s new drives fit three 333GB platters into the 2.5-inch form factor to raise the ceiling.

The WD Scorpio also features WD’s WhisperDrive technology for silent running, ShockGuard and SecurePark tech for reliability and shock protection, and a fast 3Gb/s SATA interface for performance.

Available now, the 750GB Scorpio Blue retails for $189.99, while the 1TB model costs $249.99. WD’s Scorpio drives are covered by a 3-year warranty.
