Sanyo announces DVR that supports hot plugged hard drives Sanyo Repoch 2

Sanyo in Japan has just announced a new digital video recorder (DVR) that uses slot-in hard drives up front for plug and play storage. Called the Repoch, the DVR is a compact set-top kit that can record videos, save them on iVR (Information Versatile Disk)-compatible disks, and play them on digital or analog TVs.

The Repoch includes an Ethernet connection for plugging into the home network, an HDMI port for plugging into HDTVs, and component audio and video inputs for plugging into just about anything else. Two cable connections connect to TV antennas for broadcast sources.

Set to sell in Japan on September 1, the Repoch is bundled with a 160GB iVR disk and amounts to around US$670, but options also include a larger 320GB drive. There’s no word on availability outside Japan.
