BenQ has announced a new model for their JoyBook line of netbooks, the JoyBook Lite U102. It’s a 10-incher that’s garbed with a new stylized polished obsidian exterior that measures less than an inch thick, and weighs just over 1Kg.

It runs on Intel’s Atom N270/N280 processor and Mobile 945GSE chipset, with 1GB of DDR2 RAM, and a standard 160GB hard drive. The 10.1-inch screen shows a wide 1024×600 resolution and is LED backlit to save on power. The rest of the specs are pretty basic, with Ethernet and Wi-fi b/g connectivity, plus Bluetooth and an optional HSUPA slot for connecting to mobile data networks, and add-ons that include a 1.3MP Webcam and a card reader. Style and portability is where this netbook excels. Apart from the slim and light frame, they also designed the packaged AC adapter to be more compact than the usual.

The U102 comes with a standard 3-cell battery pack that’s listed to last around 3 hours, but BenQ offers an optional 6-cell pack that doubles it. It also comes with a 1 year warranty, but is currently selling in Asian markets, with no word on availability in other regions yet.
