Usually known for coming out with displays such as monitors, LCD TVs and projectors, Viewsonic has come out with a full all-in-one PC. It’s pretty thin at only 35mm, and it looks like another regular digital display, but there’s a computer in there, right behind the Viewsonic-branded LCD screen.
Designed to take care of the desktop clutter that stems from having multiple cables—not to mention having a PC chassis take up desk space—the VPC100 runs on a 1.64GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB of DDR2 memory, and built-in graphics via the Intel 945GSE chipset. The slim space behind the 18.5-inch screen also holds a 160GB SATA hard drive and a super multi DVD/CD-RW drive. The screen, which takes up most of the business end, features a 5ms response time, a 1000:1 contrast ratio, a 1366×768 resolution, and a built-in 1.3-megapixel Webcam.
It’s an all-in-one, so sound comes integrated with a pair of built-in speakers. There’s also Gigabit LAN and Wi-fi b/g for connectivity, and the ports along the rear and sides include the usual audio connections, four USB ports, and a multi-card reader.
It ships with Windows XP, plus a matching keyboard and mouse, all for $599.
