Shuttle releases new Phenom II based barebone PC

Small Form Factor PC manufacturer Shuttle has recently unveiled their first barebone kit with an AM3 socket for AMD’s Phenom II platform. Tagged as the SA76G2, Shuttle is promising an SFF PC that delivers a combination of value and performance HD-capable computing.

The SA76G2 is based on AMD’s 760G and SB710 chipsets that can support a wide range of AMD’s processors, including the Phenom, Phenom II, Athlon 64 X2,Athlon 64, Sempron, with AM2+ or AM3 sockets. The small board also comes with a pair of memory slots for adding up to 8GB of DDR2-800 memory, and a PCI-E slot for adding a discrete graphics card that can run on the 250W mini-PSU. Everything is kept cool (and relatively silent) by Shuttle’s proprietary Integrated Cooling Engine 2 (ICE2) kit that uses heatpipes to transfer heat away from the CPU to a connected fan.

This AMD-based system also comes with built-in 5.1-channel audio and integrated graphics via ATI’s Radeon 3000 GPU. The integrated graphics can handle two displays via ATI’s SurroundView multi-monitor technology. SurroundView also allows users to run up to four simultaneous displays when a discrete graphics card is added.
