China-based manufacturer Huawei has finally unveiled a working model of their first Android-powered smartphone during the CommunicAsia trade show in Singapore. It’s not much of a surprise, (news of this phone have been making the rounds for quite some time now), but this is the first time that they’ve shown a working model.
Officially named the U8230, the touch-based mobile runs on the Android 1.5 OS and features a spacious 3.5-inch screen, a 3.2MP cam, and a 1500mAh battery (supposedly listed as the longest battery capacity of any existing Android-powered handset). There’s not much info on the other specs, but since it’s an Android device, apps such as Google Maps, Google Search, and Google Talk comes standard.
The U8230 is expected to be officially released sometime during the second half of 2009. More info should be available soon.

The CommunicAsia show also revealed another touch-based smartphone by Huawei that runs on a Widows Mobile OS. Tagged as the C8000, this phone sports a 2.8-inch screen and dedicated graphics for smooth video playback. It also lists a long battery life, with a power management feature that allows up to 6 to 8 hours of video playback.
