MSI has started to ship the highly anticipated X-Slim X340 laptop to the US market. Toted as a full-featured ultraslim notebook that could take a bite out of the MacBook Air’s market, the 13.4-incher is currently priced at $900.

It’s slim and light, but it’s definitely not another Atom-based netbook. MSI has set up the X340 for energy efficiency, thanks to an ultra low-voltage 1.4GHz Core 2 Solo CULV processor and an 8-cell battery. The rest of the standard spec includes 2GBs of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, and Wi-fi n connectivity.
