Nvidia’s tiny ION platform seems to be catching on (as expected). A month after Acer announced their ION-based AspireRevo, Taiwan-based ASRock has announced another. It’s not as button-cute as Acer’s slim nettop, but this system is no less impressive, giving out enough power for graphics-intensive games and applications without sacrificing energy efficiency.
The ASRock NetTop ION 330 runs on Intel’s dual-core Atom 330 (1.6GHz), and fits 2GB (4GB max) of DDR2 dual channel memory. Of course, it also comes with Nvidia’s built-in ION GPU that’s designed to handle DX10 games, and full 1080p HD video playback, and features built-in 5.1-channel audio.
The compact, 2.5-Liter chassis fits a multi-DVD drive and one 2.5-inch hard drive for storage, and connectivity options that include Gigabit LAN, HDMI, SPDIF, and a VGA connection to give you the full desktop experience but without the full desktop footprint. It runs on an efficient 65W power supply, and comes with ASRock’s Instant Boot feature for short load times, and an OC Tuner app that overclock the 1.6GHz Atom up to 2.1GHz for more performance.
