Xerox has come up with high speed, solid ink multifunction printers that cut page costs by up to 62% than regular color laser printers while saving the environment. The company has been using solid ink for its desktop printers for years, and now it’s extending the technology to include multifunction printers.
The ColorQube 9200 multifunction printer series uses ink sticks similar to crayons that slip into the machine easily and are non-toxic. The solid ink eliminates the need for cartridges, lessening waste and the effects of manufacturing and transportation on the environment. The ColorQube printers also make use of Xerox’s Hybrid Color Plans, which only charges you for the amount of color you use on a given page. Each batch of solid ink can provide up to 55,500 pages of prints, and the printers use four print heads that can produce print speeds that go anywhere from 38ppm (pages per minute) to 85ppm.
Made for corporate use, the ColorQube 9200 series consists of three models with different color speeds. Each has a colored touch screen, a power-saving mode, color matching, finishing and color correction features, data encryption and the Xerox Extensible Interface for customized workflow applications. Pricing starts at $23,500.
