Amazon brings Video On Demand to Panasonic HDTVs panasonicvieracastamazonvideoondemand

Amazon’s Video On Demand service is now available on Panasonic Viera Cast-enabled HDTVs. With it, you can do movie and TV show shopping on Amazon Video and get access to On Demand’s 40,000 commercial-free titles with over 500 titles in high definition. The service offers instant playback with no downloading and subscription fees, as well as a personal video library where you will be able to add or take out content that you can re-watch over and over on your Viera Cast-enabled HDTV or even your computer.

Video On Demand uses the h.264 codec and an automatic bandwidth detection feature that plays back the best quality file for your connection at either 300, 600, 900 and 1200 kbps. If you purchase the video or rent it in HD, the service will bring you the file at 2500 kbps. Viera Cast still has its online video features also, so you’ll be able to view YouTube, Bloomberg news and weather, Picasa Web albums and other sites through your Viera HDTV. Panasonic and Amazon are also looking into bringing Video on Demand to Viera Cast-enabled Blu-ray players this summer.
