Nvidia is looking to upgrade its professional-grade line of graphics cards with the release of the Quadro FX 4800 for Mac. Packing serious graphics processing features, this high-end graphics card is specifically built for Mac Pro users working in professional graphics markets such as architecture, content creation, animation, science and medicine.
The Quadro FX 4800 features a standard 3-pin stereo connector for true 3D stereoscopic imaging for Mac applications, and a GPU that dynamically allocates compute, geometry, shading and pixel processing power. The GPU sports a large 1.5GB of 384-bit graphics memory with a 76.8GB/sec bandwidth, 192 processor cores, and Nvidia’s CUDA architecture for high performance.
The card is also equipped with two Dual Link DVI connectors for running multiple displays, and supports all of Nvidia’s latest graphics technology, including PureVideo HD for clear HD video transcoding, Pixel Shader model 4.0, and has a PCI-Express 2.0 interface. It’s also built to support Apple’s Boot Camp app, allowing it to run professional Windows 3D graphics performance on a Mac.
The Nvidia Quadro FX 4800 for Mac will be available starting May for $1799 through Apple’s website and resellers. The Quadro FX 4800 for Mac will also be available through Nvidia’s channel partners, including PNY Technologies (US and EMEA), Leadteck (APAC) and Elsa (Japan).
