LaCie has announced the 4big Quadra Bundle for those who need high-capacity storage. There will be three choices for the bundle. One is the 8TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle, which consists of two LaCie 4TB 4big Quadras and a 3GB LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card for up to 8TB of space. The other is the 16TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle with four 4TB 4big Quadras and a 3GB LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card for up to 16TB of space. The third configuration is the 32TB LaCie 4big Quadra Bundle with four 8TB LaCie 4big Quadras and a 3GB LaCie eSATA II PCI Express Card for up to 32TB of space.
The 4big Quadra has been around for a while – it’s a 4-bay RAID box with four hot-swappable disks and seven RAID modes. What’s new is the 8TB variety, which LaCie is introducing with the 32TB bundle. The 4big Quadras have an automatic standby mode to conserve power and they use the quiet Noctua cooling system. Designed by Neil Poulton, these boxes are made of aluminum and have a stackable form factor to save real estate in crowded work environments.
Each 4big Quadra Bundle is packaged with Genie Backup Manager Pro for Windows and Intego Backup Manager Pro for Mac, both of which do system recovery and customizable backups. The 8TB 4big Quadra Bundle is available now at $1,999, while the 16TB and 32TB Bundles will have $3,999 and $7,999 price tags respectively, and will be out in May. The 16TB and 32TB bundles also come with the LaCie Rescue Kit, which contains a spare hard disk and power supply.
