Parents will probably love it and kids will most likely not love it as much. AT&T has come up with the FamilyMap tool, which locates a mobile phone with the use of a mobile device or a computer’s Web browser.
AT&T created the FamilyMap service with on-the-go families in mind, as the tool allows users to track family members’ locations using A-GPS on a map complete with streets and landmarks. The service even includes an option for scheduled checks, so parents can easily track down where their kids are during specific times.
Now this might seem like something stalkers and other shady individuals would use to their advantage, but AT&T made sure that the tool is only available for users on family plans. The service also has primary account owner control for privacy. Users on the account get a text message when their account first becomes part of FamilyMap, and they will also receive reminders from time to time that they have locatable phones. Account owners can also opt to receive a text message every time their location is requested, and they can approve or disapprove the request.
FamilyMap location for two users a month costs $9.99, while location for five users a month is $14.99. Those who sign up for the service will get the first month free.
