iPhone and Android users, listen up. You’ll find Gmail for mobile easier to work with on your phone, since the mobile app has been updated to work with the iPhone’s and Android’s touch interfaces.
According to the Official Gmail Blog, mail now caches on the device itself, which means access to Gmail becomes much quicker since it doesn’t have to talk to a remote server anymore. You’ll be able to read your e-mail and write new messages while you’re offline even. Gmail will just update the cache when it detects an online connection. The whole interface has been updated to move smoothly with the iPhone and Android’s interfaces with touch events, scrolling, and other animated moves.
The reworked Gmail for mobile is available to all Android-powered devices and iPhone OS 2.2.1 or higher. You can access it directly from your mobile browser through Gmail.com. Gmail is rolling it out gradually, so if you don’t see it on your phone yet, it will show up eventually.
