Acer today launched the world’s first PC based on Nvidia’s much-anticipated ION platform. With a compact body that’s barely larger than a hardbound book, the Acer AspireRevo is a full-fledged desktop PC that’s built to handle high def video, gaming, as well as other more pedestrian tasks that you can expect from your everyday desktop.

Acer’s power-efficient box is listed to run on an Nvidia ION GPU and an Intel Atom N230 processor and can be fitted with up to 4GBs of DDR2-800 memory and up to 250GBs of internal storage, giving it the power to handle 1080p HD video, Blu-ray movies and 7.1 channel audio, games such as Spore, Call of Duty 4 and SimCity 5, DirectX 10-quality graphics, and Nvidia’s CUDA technology. It should also make for a great living room entertainment PC, with a chassis that comes with VGA, and HDMI connections, four USB ports, an eSATA port, and a 4-in-1 card reader for expansion.
Pricing hasn’t been released yet, but Nvidia expects ION-based PCs to sell around the $299 price point.
