Google has taken a step towards the proverbial semantic Web with new refinements on its search leg. This, as the Internet giant has announced on its official blog, would usher in better search results to guide users more effectively to the correct information they need.
To enhance results, they have injected a new technology into Google’s search algorithms for it to actually understand your search terms by recognizing and associations and concepts related to the queries. This improves the list of related search terms listed along the results page which gives you more relevant options and is employed across Google’s 37 language options.
The “snippets” – or the short descriptive text that follows every search result which gives you an idea of what each page is about – have also received significant tweaks. For instance, when you make a search using more than three words, snippets of regular length may not provide enough information; so the number of lines in the snippets has been increased.
Though seemingly subtle, these updates offer an insight into the direction Google’s array of services are headed with their new features and deployed technologies. More updates and capabilities are expected to roll out in the coming months.
