Samsung has announced that they’ll be releasing a new rugged candybar phone called the Xplorer B2100 soon. It’s a low-end candybar that features quad-band network support, Bluetooth and EDGE connectivity, a 1.77-inch screen, a 1.3MP camera, and not much else by way of mobile tech, but it’ll take a whole lot more punishment compared to your iPhone.

It may look like your basic low-end candybar, but the B2100 can take a licking, with a urethane case that let’s you dunk it up to a meter underwater for 30 minutes. It’s also shock, salt, fog, and dust resistant, compliant with both the European IP57 certification and the US Military Standard 810F (MIL-STD-810F).

Designed to survive extreme conditions and outdoor use, the B2100 also sports noise cancellation features, a dedicated microphone, and a vibration setting that lets it vibrate longer in case you don’t notice the ringing while running from a pack of wolves. The phone also has a flashlight on the top edge, along with a dedicated button to turn it on and off.

The B2100 Xplorer will be released in Germany and other European countries in April 2009.
