Freecom releases rugged, sporty external drive freecom%20toughdrive%20sport

Freecom has just released a new rugged external drive called the ToughDrive Sport that’s built to take the shocks and drops of an active lifestyle. Available in 250, 320, and 500GB sizes, the ToughDrive Sport is built around a durable, shock-resistant 2.5-inch drive and an external shell designed for life in the outdoors. An internal shock-resistant mechanism insulates the drive, allowing it to survive a 2-meter drop onto a hard surface (what happens if you drop it from 2.1 meters? We don’t know.)

The drive comes with a secure encrypted 256 bit MD5 password protection to keep data safe from prying eyes, and automated backup software to keep things simple. The external case comes with a metal ring for attaching it onto ropes, keychains and carabiners, and a built-in, USB 2.0 cable that wraps around the drive for convenience.

The ToughDrive Sport is now available in Europe, and sells for $144 for the 250GB model, $170 for 320GBs, and $241 for the 500GB drive.
