Dell just rolled out its new slim and stylish Adamo notebook with proportions and design that looks set to get a little of the MacBook Air’s action. Measuring just 0.65 inches all over when closed, the Dell Adamo notebook sports a 13.4-inch LED-backlit 720p display, and a full backlit keyboard built into a tough, machined-aluminum chassis. Available in two colors (named Onyx and Pearl), the Adamo also boasts of a bit of flair with etched lids, matching external optical drives, and a selection of luxury or business packages that come with designer Tumi sleeves.
The Adamo runs on Intel’s ULV (Ultra Low Voltage) Core 2 Duo processors to give it more life when away from a wall socket, along with with an advanced lithium polymer battery that’s listed to give you more than 5 hours of juice. The Centrino 2-based system also features Wi-fi n, Bluetooth connectivity, and an optional wireless broadband kit to keep you connected on the go. Dell also adds a 128GB solid state drive, and 64-bit Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 to the basic package.
The Adamo is available in two basic variants: a $1,999 kit that comes with a 1.2GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GBs of DDR3 800MHz memory, and a $2,699 top-end kit that comes with a 1.4GHz CPU, 4GBs of DDR3 memory and a mobile broadband connection. Both models come with two optional packages; add $500 for the Jet-Setter package to get a Tumi sleeve, external DVD-RW drive, MS Office Home and Student 2007, and a year’s worth of the Adamo Premium Service. Add $438 for the Entrepreneur Package that includes a 250GB external hard drive, MS Office 2007, and the Adamo service.
