Panasonic gave their latest digital SLR camera – the Lumix GH1 – the full HD treatment. It records high-resolution, full HD 1920 x 1080 video at 24 fps (frames per second) and smooth 1280 x 720 HD video at 60 fps. A dedicated video recording button is actually on the back of the cam for instant access, and it uses the Dolby Digital Stereo Creator to record video in high quality stereo sound.
Let’s not forget that the Lumix GH1 is a digital SLR camera and not just a dedicated video recorder. The main thing about it is its Vario HD 14-140mm/F4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S long-zoom interchangeable lens with continuous AF (auto focusing) capability and a silent motor. [Note: Panasonic has also released another lens model that’s compatible with the GH1 – the Lumix G Vario 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH – which has a wide-angle zoom range of 7-14mm (35mm camera equivalent; 14-28mm).]
Other Lumix GH1 features include a 3-inch LCD that swivels, and the Live View Finder that gives you a preview of the effects of your chosen settings before you take a photo. There’s also the usual optical image stabilization, scene selector, intelligent exposure, AF tracking and face recognition features.
