A little more than half a year before the i900 Omnia was launched, Samsung announced a new high-end touchscreen phone bearing the same name. Dubbed the i8910 Omnia HD, the newer phone is a bit thicker than its predecessor at 12.9mm, but sports a larger, brighter 3.7-inch OLED touchscreen that’s capable of showing 16 million colors on a 360×640 wide resolution.

Samsung introduces i8910 Omnia HD    Samsung%20i8910%20OmniaThe i8910 drops the i900’s Windows Mobile OS, instead running on a Symbian S60 v5 operating system. It features HSDPA 7.2 data network support, Wi-fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, and a built-in GPS receiver.

One of the highlights for this particular touchsreen phone is the built-in 8 megapixel autofocus cam that’s capable of snapping 3264×2448 stlls or 720p HD video clips at 24 frames per second. It also comes with a flush multimedia suite that’s able to play DivX, XviD, WMV and MP4 video files. In line with its “HD” tag, this mobile also packs an HDMI port for video output.

The i8910 will be available with two internal storage sizes: 8GB and 16GB.
