Dell’s Latitude XT2 does multi touch computing delllatitudext2

Dell’s updated Latitude convertible tablet PC, now named the XT2, aims to do more than regular tablets by introducing multi-touch features that should feel natural when used. Gestures like pinching and tapping the screen to scroll, pan, zoom and rotate will give you more flexibility when working with applications, while a dual-digitizer that allows for low pressure and high touch accuracy will ensure minimal snags.

The XT2 is only an inch thick. It converts from a tablet to a regular notebook with a swiveling keyboard so you can adjust according to how you work. The Daylight Viewable12.1-inch display, full keypad and touchpad won’t leave you wanting, and the digital pen it comes with works battery-free.

This tablet will run on either a 1.20GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor SU9300 or a 1.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor SU9400. DDR3 memory can go from 1GB to 5GB, and you’ll be able to choose from a variety of hard drives – 80GB or 120GB SATA, 64GB Ultra Performance SSD, and 64GB or 128GB Mobility SSD. All configurations will have an Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD and will ship with variations of Windows Vista, some with downgrade options to Windows XP Tablet Edition. Battery-wise, the XT2 is rated to last up to around 11 hours with its 6-cell battery and optional 6-cell battery slice. It comes complete with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Gigabit Ethernet, and smooth connectivity will be a cinch with the LCD-based wireless antenna design.

Dell is offering three different package flavors for the XT2 – the Base Package with minimal specs at $2,399; the Productivity Package with higher memory, storage, processor speed and battery life at $2,596; and the Protection package with a long-lasting 9-cell battery.
